I started installing my soft top yesterday.
Got all the sticks up with no problems.

I cannot figure out how to install the windshield mounting thing.
Do I have to drill new holes in the windshield frame?

The kit came with 4 black spring tension things, I think these are what might hold it to the frame?

No instructions came with the kit !! WTF?????

HELP:(
pictures would be great.

Thanks.

I had to drill new holes in mine as the holes in the top of the windscreen frame did not match up with the holes in the windscreen mounting bracket, however you shouldn't really have to if you have the correct one to fit your vehicle.

If none of the holes line up then yeah, you will need to drill some new holes in one of the other, i cant remember what i drilled now. Just make sure it is lined up properly first otherwise it wont fit properly!

once the holes are drilled the black bits slot between the two then once the canvas is slotted in the grove between frame and brcket you simply push the clamps closed and hey presto, youre away. make sure you put the canvas on from front to back as this is the best and easiest way of getting it all to fit and line up.

so, does the soft top load from the front of the bracket and then pull over and hide the bracket or does it load from the rear of the bracket and the bracket clamps down on it?

My old CJ5 loaded from the front but I dont think this one does.

Thanks.

Thanks for that but the "header rail" is completely different.

Surely somewhere there is an installation video as nice as that one?????

OK, I am almost done.
The header rail is installed and everything looks fine,
EXCEPT!

The frame that surrounds the door the the soft top tucks into I am having an issue.
The piece that runs vertically along the side of the upper door frame.
The soft top is supposed to tuck in behind this (?).
Problem is there is a tab on the new frame piece that is preventing me from tucking in the top part.
I tried to take pictures.

My finger is pointing at the tab.....

If I install it like that this is how it will fit. Surely I am doing something wrong?

HELP.

Thanks.

Got it!

I emailed the pictures to my supplier (Famous Four) who passed it on the the manufacturer.

They said just leave a 2mm gap between the B-pillar and the top rain drip rail and the hood will slip in between.

Thanks guys, I will post a pic when its done

Yeah i just ended up bending the tab down behind the vertical rail. They are so simple after the first time!

I got mine in without bending it but I dont like how it looks.
Now the vertical rail is not straight in line with the door frame:(

AND now it seems that the sides are not quite long enough to reach down the side of the vehicle to be able to hook the hole on the hook thingys.

I am going to try bending the rail and see if that helps at all.

OK, so I cut and bent the tabs.
Still no good.

I read that if you put canvas in the sun it expands?
I will try that when the sun gets hot.

Otherwise, in the bin it goes.
I will get a propper one made.

My problem is, the 2 side panels that hang down seem to be about 1" too short on both sides.
They are not long enough to reach the hook thing that has to be rivited to the side.
Otherwise it all fits good.

You can see in this pic that the hoop that the thingy goes through is too high.

I pulled on it so hard that I started to hear something tear!

Its out in the sun now and its good and hot, we shall see ..............

Does not the rope go on the hooks to hold the top down, and not the grommets?

Yes.

The hooks and rope is fine but what do I attach the grommet too?
How do I stop the bottom of the hood from moving towards the rear?
