The steel bracings on my Series 3 bonnet (deluxe) are rusted beyond recovery. Can you buy these from anywhere? Drilling the pop rivets out and re-doing them wouldn't be a problem if I could get the bits.

However in some ways it seems that it would be easier to buy another bonnet.

Thanks for any info.

maybe given that they're not really a visible part, just making your own from box steel bits wouldn't be too bad a solution, otherwise just look out on eBay for a new bonnet, they don't go for too much

Mine need doing at some point too so I'll be watching this for people's suggestions. Was planning on going to my blacksmith mate's forge to use his sheet metal bender and knocking some new ones up.

I recently purchased a bonnet of flebay for £15, no rust or dents. oddly enough I am taking the frame out of it to just use the skin on my trialer.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems like another bonnet would be the way to go if I can pick one up for as little as £15. For that it doesn't seem worth the effort of getting the old frame out and riveting a new one in.

Another one would be slam panels where they rot across the bottom fold

as well as old things like the series 2 smiths heaters

used to drop them heaters into the bottom half of a large fire extinguisher and weld round the rim :D

was also thinkin of making the cover weather pannels for fitting truck cabs to 88" series ( yer know the rare as fook pannel )

which ones that ? got a pic ?

there may be one on the breaker down the road if you need measurements, of no use to me as I've king cabbed now. Moved the whole cab back to the third rivet hole along the pickup base from the bulkhead mounting point

Got my eye on the smiths heater inside it though :p be nicer than the small bastard one inside the 3 (now ripped out)

Tis a razor edge bonnet if you want the frame you can have it FOC. Spose it depends how close you are

I've never looked at a razor edge bonnet up close, I imagine the steel frame would be different to a rolled edge with spare wheel recess? Can anyone confirm...??

If your frame would work in my bonnet, I'd be happy to send a few quid your way. :)
