Hey everyone,

Bit of a prob I am hoping someone can throw some light on.
Just left for work and I noticed a rather large puddle of red fluid on the floor under the engine.
Matter a little bit of swearing I stuck my head under and can see it dripping off the gearbox.

Does anyone know what it could be?

Sorry guys should have said its a 4.4 petrol. And I am pretty sure it's the coolant but confused as to where it would be coming from

Have a look at the water pump, see if you can see any water staining on it or/and drips of water, also check to see if you are losing water in the system i.e. look in expansion chamber see if its below max mark. If the answer is 'yes' the you will need a new water pump. Hope thsis might shed some light on the matter.

If you need a replacement pump, there is a guy in Lancashire called Totalparts (find him in google) he is very reasonable on his prices :)

Lol thanks guys. Pretty sure it's coolant. Not sure about the water pump though coz it seems to be dripping at quite some rate from the back of the engine

If you are losing water from the back of the engine it could be the valley gasket leaking, my mates 4.0 hse was the same last year, he was quoted 6/8 hrs labour @£40p/h or given the option of Holts Radiator and block sealer in Gold Bottle @ £8 per bottle.

1 bottle and a couple of days later the leak has finally stopped he hasnt put anymore water in and all is running good, no over heating and using it in all the bad weather we had.

you never know it might help you ;)
