After about a week of owning my disco 300tdi my steering wheel sends as tho its grinding wen turned any ideas?

Where's the noise coming from? Do you mean the squeaking noise from the steering column? Lots of them do it, especially when cold. If you search the forum you will find lots of people asking about, but very few explanations or cures

It sounds like its grinding from the actual wheel behind where it must be bolted on

The steering wheel or a road wheel?

Have a look at your steering damper. If lost fluid and now dry this could cause it to feel like a grinding through the steering wheel. If your not sure then undo it from one side take it off and turn the wheel if all ok you found your problem.

Think he means that the back of the steering wheel is rubbing against it...........

What he means is the plastic surround behind the wheel,its a crap fit on nearly all discos and if its ever been taken off it won't go back as it was. This rubs on the steering wheel and make all sorts of rubbing/scratching sounds.

Yh by looks of it it has as where the key goes in it doesent sit flush as it would out of factory, jump in this morning didn't seem to be doing it, its like a grinding noise tho, as of its a bearing gone that needs some grease
