starting problem

Hi guys. Got more rrc problems. Right got in it this morning and wouldnt fire turned over fine just wouldnt fire but dizzy sometimes sticks. So gave that a hit and it started. Filled up with fuel started again no probs got to me sisters house went to leave and nothing tried the hitting dizzy technique and still nothing. Has the dizzy gave up the ghost or any other likely problems it could be for it to happen just like that. Any help would be great cheers.

Time to take the dizzy out me thinks....

Could be the bob weights....

Do you have some heavily insulated pliers? Could try taking each plug out in turn and holding against the engine plenum chamber and look for a big fat spark.....good spark means lack of fuel/air no spark or a weak yellow one could be coil or ignition amp.

yea i was going to check the plugs but got dark. It could be the dizzy as it has been sticking now and a again. Thanks for the info

thanks for the help Range rovers running fine now turnt out to be dizzy cap the spring on the centre pin had broke and pin also burnt out. But for some reason it takes ages to fire when cold. Could this be due to the fact its running purely on lpg cuz i know your ment to start on petty then switch over to lpg??

That is almost certainly the problem. No cold start setting on gas.

Not that i am aware of. But not well up on gas others may know different. Suppose it may depend on the age and complexity of your gas system.

To vapourise the LPG into a decent burnable gas takes heat - and the Vap gets that from your coolant system....my Sequential BRC systm switches when the coolant temp is above 40 odd degC to prevent the Vap from freezing up as the gas expands....

Why doesn't it start on Petrol?? Constant starting on LPG could knacker the Gas Ring/Injectors as they are designed to squirt a Gas and not a ridiculously cold cold liquid....and potentially freeze the Vap.

If LPG is Propane, it should vapourise as it leaves the tank down to at least -5C. Certainly though it will cool to VAP to the point of icing up without heat, just like carbs used to freeze in the old days..

That is the main problem, the Vap will freeze and you'll start to get liquid into the Injectors or Ring....and it remains liquid until the Vap when it can expand due to a sudden reduction in pressure and increase in temperature

One of my first jobs when I started working for the Company I do now was to design and build a Cryogenic Liquid Nitrogen Processing Plant at London Heathrow.....Even though LN boils off at -190 odd degC and the distance to our MRP pump is 1500mm we still get issues of Liquid and Gas at the same time in the same pipe.....so whilst yes the LPG will boil off into a Gas as soon as it is allowed to expand...if the Vap is cold enough that expansion is hampered and you get a slushy, mushy mix of Gas and Liquid to the Engine.

Runs on lpg only as bloke i bought it from removed fuel tank for offroad. Tried easy start works but have to spray it same time as turning over engine otherwise wont fire and cant do that when im on me todd.

Cobble up an electric heater for the vapouriser.

sounds like it might be better to get a fuel tank and pump fitted then. All the fuel lines are still there just minus tank and pump. thanks for the help anyways
