I am currently re building a 1984 classic, I need the usual parts to get rid of the rot and whilst looking on the web have found that the front inner arch from YRM is £20 more than Paddocks or Craddocks. Does anybody know the difference. Is the YRM part worth the extra £20?

YRM is better quality, slightly thicker gauge steel and zinc coated. Paddocks etc tend to sell Britpart which is O.K. but metal is rather thin and needs care when welding or you'll be blowing holes in it (guess how I know:()

Thought there might have been a difference in thickness of steel. Might have to bite the bullet and pay the extra £40 +the taxman..

Well, as a personal choice, I look to see just how much metal is actually good and if it makes sense to cut and fabricate a patch myself. The big BUT is always how many times you fancy patching up your motor.

My green Rangie had been patch repaired a couple of times and I have just done a lot more but overall it was still worth doing that way. The LSE is a bit beyond patching in most areas so I will be shopping at YRM - I could fabricate the parts but really the time it takes me to cut, fold, weld etc it is actually cheaper and quicker to buy the panels in and as a bonus YRM stuff is zinc coated so pretty corrosion resistant but remember to apply some etch primer then ordinary primer and then paint on top. Oh and also don't forget seam sealer - lots of it!

Cheers Kev, want to do it once and do it right. Think YRM is the way forward. There are a lot of bits with holes in on both so would prefer to weld in new than **** about patching. Needs a new set of front wings as well as the tops exploded when I took the bolts out. All the back is good though, only have to change the mounts..

When you next in our country again?

paddocks inner wimgs at 138 are a bargin..they fit fine.

if you keeping motor then get new panels gavled..inner wings are BOLT on (84)so no welding
yrm are good...and next day delivery..paddocksstuff is uk made,(label of manufactor still on it)

paddocks rear x member and side bulkheads and sills were A1..cant fault them ,perfect fit. and thick metal.(better than oe )

yrm front bulkhead mounts also A!..

After some digging and sending of e-mithers I have found the difference.
YRM inner wings are made from 1.2mm steel and come Zinc coated.
Paddock inner wings are made from 2.0 - 2.5mm steel and come powder coated.
Most other places use Britpart.
