Freelander 1 EKA code format

Do you know your Freelander 1's EKA code? If so, can you advise what format it is?

I don't need to know your EKA code. I just need to know what format it is. For eggsample: 4 numeric numbers or 34R688

I don't have my EKA code but my hawkeye tells me what mine is, but I think it's wrong and can't test it.

I still int mad but I does have problems.

I have both original security cards and there is just a blank in the EKA box.

The card looks identical to the one I had with my P38 which does use the EKA and this consists of four numbers between 1 & 9.

Same as Irish Rover - the EKA box is left blank.

My Dad's old Rover 75 had a 4 digit number code.

However that very same specialist key company - remotekey.co.uk - on another forum gave a list of cars that have no EKA - including my dad's 75 - Curious.

It's a nice bit of kit but a little bit of testing in the final stage (or any stage) of software creation would have gone a long way.

I agree - I don't 100% rely on any of these gizmos. They are a guide and for assistance only.

Like my SatNav which tells me my average moving speed was only 34mph.

OBD readers and SatNavs are great gadgets but I don't trust some of the average statistics they can show.

The EKA relates to a DIY means of resetting the immobiliser/security low level issues to enable the car to a driveable mode.
The four digit code is translated into a specific number of turns with the key in the drivers door lock, clockwise & anti clockwise (Lock & Unlock positions)...e.g a code of say 1234 would signify 1 turn to lock, 2 turns to unlock, 3 turns to lock and 4 turns to unlock.
As the Freelander uses a different CCU to say, the P38, which has the EKA function & codes and has a Becm it is more than likely that the EKA is not a requirement on the Freelander.
Zero is not used in EKA codes due to the fact that zero turns of the key is not possible..likewise alpha characters (A-Z) are not used.
EKA codes can be changed in the Body ECU to suit user preferences and I have done this many times for P38 owners who have either lost the code or wished to change to a memorable number. I had one owner who had the original code of 9847 which was a pain in the ass..especially when it was p***ng rain-I changed it to 1212 !!!
