Just had a look through them fett, looks tidy :)

Lucas dizzy??

See what you're saying about the rocker covers, would be pretty sweet of you can enamel them :)

Is the roll of plastic on the wall the wrap up and cherish that old 3.5 so that you can keep it forever and nobody else ever can ever have it??

Yeah it is a lucas dizzy, I think it may be an opus (hopless) but I have not seen an opus in the flesh before.

Depending on the drive gear I have lots of spares, I think I will stick with lumention as I have a spare brand new power module. Just need the eye and fitting kit.

Thats 3.5 was going to be my project engine, I may still need it if this one is too tired. But the comp test will tell :D- well some of it lol

Update gents. Ive been out and done a compression test. readings from 170 psi on 2 of the cylinders up to 199 being the highest on one of the cylinders.

Most are at about 189 on average. Thats a dry test btw.

What do we think?

As far as I can tell the compression ratio on these is 9:1.

Just to add thats on a cold engine thats been round the world in a shipping container and not been run for ages. I added oil to one of the 170 psi cylinders and it went up to 195 which means some ring wear but also its a cold engine so the piston/bore would be a bit oval anyway.

well the jamesmartin master tech seems to think its positive news so beers all round I think :)

Maybe time to get the rocker covers, sump and carb sorted and build a test rig- oh yeah and finish the rest of the car too :)

Ok guys, this is as clean as it gonna get!

Land Rover Zone - fett's Album: As clean as its gonna get!

was out there till 1am with solvents and my mate who was helping reckons he is now in-fertile due to the fumes PMSL :p

next job is sump and rocker covers off for a paint and a clean inside and then the carb off to the carb exchange for a re-furb.

After that front cover off and front a rear main seals replaced when they arrive (4 weeks min lol)

I've got a 3.9 en-route ;)

mines ####ed and held together with copious amounts of superglue on the left bank  so I'm scrapping the idea of running it, building an engine stand and rebuilding the ####ing thing

superglue? did you drop it?

No…..

Went to check the rocker shaft bolts for play, 1/2" ratchet wouldn't budge them, spanner and large rubber hammer wouldn't either same for all head bolts literally no movement wouldn't budge a mil either way

Agreed to buy a running still in vehicle 3.9 V8 with loom, ECU etc so going to drop that in and then go about stripping that 3.5 down

Its running ;) and I'm taking the entire loom so all I should need to do is plug it into a 12v supply and earth it

Its not got an immobiliser or any crap like that so should be simple enough, noisy is telling me which wires I need to cut off and keep when I collect
