Roadtrip Scotland

Hello,

Whe're 2 guys from Belgium and we're planning a roadtrip to Scotland with a land rover defender 90.
We want to do a lot of green laning and go a lot off road.
Do you know if this is possible and do you maybe have some maps or routes that we could follow?

I would advise meeting the locals in areas to avoid trouble.

Plenty of chaps up there and some amazing places to see

there are no Official Greenlanes in Scotland.. You need the landowners permission to drive any lanes crossing their land.

NO

WE have ordnance survey maps and whilst they show roads, footpaths bridal ways (Horses) cycle lanes etc and the topography of the land (hills rivers etc etc) they do not show whether a lane or road is legal to drive. you would have to contact the council of each county you are visiting to get the legal status of a road or byway.

If you look in the green laning section you may find a Scotland section. That said there are some amazing smaller roads you can go down that are so small they border on lanes

Yep, what Redhead said Once you get further North there are some great "Normal" roads though, just get a map out fella

Try glentarkie of road driving centre also known as mad on mud club. This is a site situated about 50 miles from Edinburgh and you can pay and play for as much fun as you like. You can get their details on google.

For other events contact the Scottish land rover owners club SLROC who arrange quite a few events throughout the country and you may be in luck for dates when you are here.
