the russian t38's were unstoppable and churned out en masse.
they had almost all parts interchangeable from other tanks to tractors in russia.
the german tanks was a lot more involved in repairing them

t34 ,sloping armour ,wide tracks etc for runner of modern tanks

The AK74 is a much better rifle, less component wear because of the smaller round but still versatile and solid.

But Russian military stuff is always very pretty. Phwoooaar:

More russians died in the war than everyone else put together  Something that is still not really acknowledged because of what happened after.

Yup - history is full of misconceptions and war generally just serves to confuse / mask the truth so that it gets lost.

Ask 100 people what was the world's worst shipping disaster / loss of life - and 99 will tell you RMS Titanic - not true! The worst was 6 times worse.

I see anti air stuff and small arms but nothing above possibly a 40mm on there ?

There are two 76mm's on the stern but the emphasis for this ship was ICBM's, dozens and dozens of them to launch a saturated missile attack. Still the largest non carrier warship ever built :).

The Soviets always favoured Rockets over aircraft at sea.

haha and there was me thinking it was an oversized coast guard ship

It's easy to overlook the small armament due to her sheer size, but the ASW, ECW and AA teeth of this class were potent in it's day. The yanks would have had a real tough time bringing her down, not like the Bismark - this has all radar guided multi target seeking gatlings and a beehive of SA missiles. You wouldn't want to have gone anywhere near it . She was designed to be able to launch and withstand a saturation attack and I think it would have done a good job of that in action.

Those Gatlings could also bring down Exocets of the day too. Nasty.

Ooooh not sure about that!

No doubt the yanks would have something up their sleeve, no doubt the small arms would take down an A-10 before it got in range to unleash with the Vulcan though if they went down that route but they might have some fancy tech they've been holding out on though!

But yes, built in russia so either way it's gonna be hard to bring down :D ****load of arms for one boat though  probably more practical too than an array of 16" cannons

Actually I say A-10, no idea when this boat was in service!

lol reading threw this thread next door bang hell out of front door two fire engines and police van next door phone fire brigade because her neighbours house on fire.Smashed door in neighdour woken up. Turns out no fire nothing wrong think smoking some strong **** lol

LOLwut :D?

What a fascinating thread this is!

We seem to be a right lot of well informed clever buggers right enough.

I didn't realise History was so popular.

Yeh I guess it is hehe. Well I'm biased I've always loved cold war designs so building models as a kid I actually paid attention in school lol. Never learned to hate it. Incidentally I've always thought that building models is a great way to teach history, makes a connection that a book might not make IMHO :).

It was around a bit before but all the way through the A-10's life but I don't think they would have sent an A-10 up against warships. The US Army would have been too busy melting T-72's in germany with them ;). More likely it would have gone up against F-14's and such armed with Harpoon and Exocet. But she would have been in a flotilla that would have included ASW and AA specialist warships to bolster her own defences. Not uncrackable, but one tough walnut!

Iowa class is a WW2 relic, useful as power projection but dubious use in action against Soviets :).
