Well gents as some of you are aware i,ve been having some right gremlins in ma 90,s electrics. So again i come to you fine gentleman cap in hand for some pointers or tips!

Starters for 6! Last night i changed the dash surround that houses all the dials. The one that was fitted had a crack plus the lower 2 locating lugs had been sheared off! Fairly easy job all dials removed and fiited into new housing.... But now when the key is turned the temp gauge dial goes right over to the right and stays there! Now i,ve checked the temp sensor on the engine no problems, just on the off chance it gave up the ghost . Any body had any similar problems, no wires were cut or removed just un bolted and bolted staright back onagain!

Secondly my front L/H headlight is continuning to blow its fuse when ever its turned on. Over the past few days its blown on initially turning the headlights on but on other occasions its given up after a mile or so! I,ve checked the wiring at the light which is good, i,ve removed the light bulb and tried to turn on the lights and it still blows. I,ve followed the wirring loom from headlight to bulkhead and i cannot see and bare wires or any points where it is rubbing! My thought is were the main loom passes through the bulkhead. The sidelights stay on as does the R/H headlight.

My patience is being test now wea the electrics on this thing, i,ve walked away and left it for a beer before i hurt it:violent:.

So any help/points **** take are well appreciated. from a very angry jock!

The temp gauge uses the sender as a thermistor to indicate temp. The sender lead shorted to the engine block will show full scale deflection on the gauge.

SO it sounds like you might have a short to earth in the wire from the gauge to the sender ;)

Daz ma thoughts exactly. disconected the sendor earlier and the guage was still over to the right, looks good engine side, gonna do a bit more shortly when i get behind the air box.........

Daz the wires were on the right terminals, (more fuses blown best order some more)

However if the earth is disconnect the gauge goes to its normal (ish) postion. That leads me to believe that the earth is dodgy?

Been ****ing about wea this all day!.....Turns out the cheap replacement temp gauge fitted is well ......CACK!.

The live feed cable if moved on the terminal results in the needle going banzi!.....so after moving cables , blowing goddam fuses! (cheers to MHM for the link above) i have the gauge working again.

Monday its getting replaced as i know of one sat in a box at work!:D.

Cheers fur all yur help though Daz!......pint behind the bar fur yu!
