Hi All just purchased a 05 TD4 the tyres fitted are 225x55x17 looking to use up the farm for shooting outings .What size a/t tyres are best for this occasional use ?

You're saying only occasional farm use.

Unless you intend driving across a ploughed field, you won't really need A/T tyres.

They will look like the dog's danglies but will drive you nuts on longer trips on tarmac.

I'm off-road road almost every day using Conti4X4Contacts with no problem at all over grassland.

The Freelander is a very capable machine with regular M+S tyres.

I have the same wheels on mine and Thay don't do A/T that size
I got some 15" now and rapped them in hankook A/T for my winter shooting set.
I put the 17" back on in April/may
