Seeping Oil Cooler pipes

Somebody mentioned recently an "eay fix" for a bit of seepage at the swaged junction on the oil cooler pipes.
It was just a casual remark in the course of another problem.
I asked for detailsof the easy fix but can't find the thread.
Anybody know the answer ?

Think it consisted of cleaning them off and sealing with some sort of Epoxy putty. That is a bodge it won't last, only real cure is to change them.

And also bear in mind changing pipes means its likely you'll need a new oil cooler to due to the corrosion fusing the fixings together. Only rare and lucky cases has it been possible to change just the pipes

You can always cheat and cut beyond the hose and crimped parts and attach your own hose if your that much of a cheap Skate

And create another join to leak oil from....

Why would it leak with double crimped clips or you going to tell me there 150 psi in there

I've been contemplating doing that for months : I have the new pipes : I bought stright connectors for the steel pipes from Pirtek. I was going to cut about an inch back on the steel pipes ( for the ususal corrosion reasons at the cooler ) but I've been crapping it !
Anybody done that ?

Some one on here done it, I was going to but what puts me off is that's when cutting what's to say some fillings go around the system , so i though you could take them off and clean them out , but if your going to do that you might as well change them bit of risk in a way isn't it

Just read again if its just corrosion would not bother until it leaks

When i eventually get round to mine i will be cutting them off at the nearest suitable straight before the cooler and replacing with Hydrafit stainless braided flexy pipes and compression fittings.Much better and servicable if needed.

Father in laws Ford Ka had a pinhole in the solid power steering pipe.
Quoted 900 quid to supply and replace the pipes.
Permanently repaired by cutting the pipe and fitting a £2.75 straight compression coupling.

That's precisely what I intend to do with my new compression fittings : I have bought a mini plumbers pipe cutter to do the job and propose to put a magnet on the cut while I'm working to catch any swarf.
I don't expect to do it soon but I'll report on any probs when I get round to it.

Won't be doing that ! Hoped it might be something clever. Somebody had a pic of the pipes wrapped in duktape...I'm sure it works ....

where are you in Ayrshire ? I take an annual run through to Culzean Castle in the summer and I've got a multi vehicle Faultmate if needed.

I live in a wee village about 9 miles from Largs.

I bought a plumbers mini pipe cutter and have checked that I can get it to do a full 360* revolution round the pipes. Only cost a coupleof quid. The compression fittings were about £20 if memory serves me right.
