Evening all,
Has anybody replaced the door check strap pins on their P38? A couple of mine seem to have worn quite badly so I was thinking of replacing them. Do they just push up through?

regards,

Dave

They look like roll pins on mine, I reckon they would be buggers to get out. If you do get them out replace them with a S/S bolt. You may find that it's not the pin that's worn but the hole in the strap.

Replaced both front door check-strap brackets on my P38 as they were worn ( elongated holes ) causing a cracking/click noise when doors were opened... only a couple of £'s each from an Indy LR dealer ... colour-matched /painted with an aerosol can and fitted in 5 mins... job done :)

I had a quick look at mine at the weekend and I think your right its the check strap that have worn.
Your link takes me to a check strap for a Vauxhall Vivaro??
Can you give me a basic break down on how you did the job, it look awkward to me so I would appreciate your comments,

regards,

Dave

On may car it was the brackets which were worn-out... tap out roller-pins and remove/replace brackets, refit pins through check-strap ..voila...job done

Picked up some new roll pins and brackets yesterday, sprayed the brackets last night so ready to do the job.
My only question is how do you get the new roll pins in, are you supposed to just knock them down through?

Thanks,

Dave
