Hi All, this is my first post so please bear with me. I have recently purchased a 2006 4.2 supercharged RR but I only do short trips and it would appear that the key never gets fully charged (sometimes does not lock and unlock) can anybody advise how long it takes to fully charge and if the ingnition needs to be on or just the key in place, so could I just leave the key in the ingnition for a while to charge?
Or do we think there may be another issue?

Thanks for any help in this matter.

Regards

John

The Freelander 2 has them - it's the system where you put the key fob into a slot on the dash and have a separate push button start/stop.

You have to swap fobs every so often to keep them charged.

How fecking stupid is that? Leave it at the airport for 3 weeks come back key is flat no entry. Now that is real progress, it used to be just the car battery you had to worry about.

usually they should stay charged like any other key, the ignition just helps trickle charge it.

should last as long as any other fob would

Rechargeable batteries are not that reliable, certainly not as reliable as Lithium button cells. Another unnecessary complication like the card entry system on some Renault's. I would not buy a car with such a system.
If a button cell in your keyfob goes flat you just fit another, with the rechargeable I suppose they expect you buy another FOB?
