Head gasket done and it's still overheating!!!

If the top hose is scalding and the bottom hose is stone cold then I'd say there's your problem. My lower hose is at least pretty warm during operation.

I'd defo say you've hit the nail on the head there, Blocked rad all day...... Not had a rad weld or such like put through it at some point in its life??? My guess as its a K series is probably yes, and it may of blocked your rad either that or it's just full of "Smegma" LOL.....

I've owned it from new and it's never had rad weld init so...don't know what it could be lol I'm gonna change it on the weekend so I'll keep u posted

Like I said might just be a build up of sludge or limescale in the rad..... I'd be 90% sure it's that.

Hi there if the rad was okay before then it isn't going to change just cause you've changed the head gasket !!!, the garage will almost certainly tell you that.
I've done loads of these engines and if the engine is still getting hot i'd try one thing first if not then the liners have moved and the engine is knackerd.
On the back of the engine by the dipstick where the water pipe joins on the inlet manifold inside the small pipe is a small ball bearing.
If that is jammed shut then that can give problems, i've tapped them gently with a small srew driver and freed them off.
If it is free then the i wouldn't spend anymore on the engine and get a replacement out of an mgf, same engine.
The only other thing is the head may have a crack in it but you've got to strip it and then get it tested and then if okay rebuild it and it may still overheat after all that.
If it was me i'd get another good engine you could spend a fortune and not sort it.

other option try spending £35 quid on some real steel gasket sealant and see if that cures it.

I would defo remove top and bottom rad hoses and check for the flow rate through the rad...... won't cost you anything and still to me does seem very suspect.

I'm defo gonna try the rad 1st, otherwise I'm gonna keep it for parts and buy another 1 lol I love freelanders! Even if some of them are poop! Lol

I use to have a freelander, head went at 40k, took it to SP*@%T Fit garage . Thay changed head gasket etc. Had a small leak from inlet manifold took it back, thay sorted it..... head went again, at 65k took it some where else , engine had k seal or rad weld in it . Not happy.
