I did some interior trim swapping to up the spec of my Black Freelander and took out a centre box with ashtray and rear electric window switches in it along with central locking button, but although the trim sits right, none of the rear screw holes line up. It was cable tied at the back down in the Gold Freelander 1 I have and I have had to do the same in the Black Freelander. Is this from a facelift?

I don't know where it's from but facelift Freelanders don't have that 'pop-out' panel with the power socket and the ashtray.

They have a blank pop out. They do have all the wiring though - tucked up at the side to keep it away from the brake cables.

Yes they do singy

it was an option... i had it on my 04 hse and have added it to my sport :)

for anyone that is looking to fit an extra power socket if you take out the cubby box you will see a spare white connector on the end of a twin balck and purple cable. this is the harness for the power socket and is already live and ready to use :)

OK - I stand corrected - mine doesn't have that anyway. :(

That must have been the 'Smoker Pack' option then???

I fitted extra power points both there and in the load area - very handy for fridges etc. But I have no need of any more ashtrays - filthy habit.

should have a metal bracket that bolts under the handbrake cable bracket the it screws into that

Singvogel, slightly off topic but where did you pick up the power feed in the rear from for your 12v in the boot?

Hi Duncan,

There is a junction box behind the trim on the LH side of the rear load area. Trim is easy to remove. There is a switched live and earth available.

It was important that it be switched as I often forget to unplug the fridge and it runs the battery down pretty quick.

I fitted the socket high up on the left of that panel, as far forward as possible, right behind the single rear seat just beside the seat release.

Hope that helps.

Singvogel.

Thanks singvogel for reminding me, I have the socket but not fitted it yet i to have fitted the "ash tray" and socket, because I need the power and like you I do not need a ash tray as I have never smoked ,but talking about smoking I wonder if any one has recieved a less value for their car because they were a smoker.

ashtray has never been used on mine either.... the kids usually flick their ash/nub ends out of the window!!!!!

you can buy the ashtray (which replaces the blanking plate) and the power socket for around 60 quid at the dealers!

i picked up a whole centre console complete with it all fitted for the princely sum of a fiver!!!
