In tank fuel pump testing...

I'm scared of testing it now! Didn't want to cause a war :)

I will unclip the pipe tomorrow and crank it and see what happens.

BTW, brim to brim is difficult coz I'm filling from jerry cans full of bio. But I'll sort summut out...

If you can't get pump to run and pump fuel powering terminal 5. It most certainly will not run with glow lamps on, or when engine i being cranked. Nor will it run when engine is running. All glow plug circuit, when lamps are on, starter relay power circuit when engine is cranked and alternator direct feed when engine is running do, is pull down relay 12 to connect terminal 5 to fuse 39.

You could check connections to inertia switch behind panel at right side of footwell, bottom of post A for corrosion. Or reset inertia switch if it has been tripped. If that is ok pump is goosed. Or it has lost earth continuity. If it is running but not pumping it is also goosed. Bio diesel can kill fuel pumps.

+1 bio can kill the pump:eek:

An its ok wammers is a very Intelligent man but think of it like this the Ordinary person just wants to know if he's pump works by the time he has turned the ignition got out checked his pipe the lamps have gone off lol

Much easer to tell some one to get an extra person to crank over your engine and see your fuel pump is filling up a small container sod the rates and all that is either works or it doesn't simples

Or an extra person to cycle the glow lamps when engine is cold. :):)

Still none the wiser.

Tested voltage on fuse 39 and both sides of the fuse are live at all times. Reset the inertia switch (well, pressed it).

With pipe in a container, a little comes out when cranking, but then the engine fires in to life with what is left in the system. Didn't let it stall because I didn't want to bleed the air out.

So still none the wiser really. Not that it matters as everything is working. I'm just curious really...

The lift pump is knackered that thought should have dawned on you by now, surely. :):):););)
