As the eas pump is a known issue, has anyone dallied with alternative units or indeed using multiple.pumps to.reduce strain...

Braced for the onslaught... Thanks..

Try a Clarke 14 cu feet per minute one from Machine Mart. They fit crossways in the boot nicely, about £400.00. The inverter to bump up 12 volts to 240 volts to drive the 3 HP motor will be around a one and half grand. Or you could buy a 3Kv diesel generator for less money. Exhaust out through a hole in the boot floor. Enjoy. :D:D:D

Nowt wrong with the compressor if the system is not full of leaks. Of course you could do as Wammers suggests and fit a compressor that will compensate for the leaks, Rotovane is another option, enough air to power 4 road drills so should keep up with the biggest leak. Just need a tow hitch to pull it.

I prefer HPC but then again I am a youngster!!

Yep deems da ones....

I propose one of the attached - they do do a 450kW version but if we stick to the 315kW, it won't put to much load on the Alternator, plus also with its PLC control system can be direct wired to the P38's Complex dash and data system via a small flashing light bulb sellotaped next to the rev counter to indicate that it is or isn't running - the luxury version uses superglue!!

Bloody hell Ant with one of those you would not need airbags, just nozzles pointing at the axles. It would ride on a cushion of air. :D:D:D

I thought that was the plan!!

I anycase just noticed the 315kW version weighs 7tonnes, and the tow weight of the P38 is only 3.5tonnes with coupled brakes.....might have to down grade to a 175kW version....only issue is the Patented 'Compressor Running' lamp is now just placed limply in dash rather the the fully intergrated version using sellotape :(

Cheers yeah I've.had a chance to dig a bit more an the system is much stronger than I first thought.

Wish I was bave enough to cut the system about like some of the yanks

If i remember rightly the compressor is or was made under licence from an American company, Thomas Pumps. They had several versions of the same size pump with different outputs. Land Rover of course chose the one with the lowest output. Compressors & Vacuum Pumps Product Range
