LT230 transfer box from a defender

Hi, I'm seeking advice, will the transfer box from a defender, LT230 suffix 20D with the 1.6:1 ratio be a straight swop for my existing 1.2:1 transfer box on my 1995 300tdi auto.

Hi Linda, it is normal forum etiquette that you first go to the "Introduce yourself" section before posting questions.

However, as to your question - if you have a manual gearbox car I would say no problems, but as it's an auto lower the transfer box ratios might well affect the gear-change quality for on-road work.
