ignition switch "beeping"

You have a problem as it should only beep if the door is open as well, but cut the white wire on the ign switch it will also remove the lights on reminder.
Yep it does it with the door open - but if i'm in the middle of nowhere on the look out for foxes and it makes a LOUD beeping noise it tends to tip em off ;)

Is it ok to snip the white wire at the ignition switch?
Just noticed in the haynes manual wiring diagram no 13 that "80 KEY-IN SWITCH" powers the interlock relay 1

Ooops so it will :( there's more to it, one of the disavantages of owning a non uk spec disco. :)

Trial & error then, snip but pull some slack wire if you can to enable to rejoin the wire if required before snipings :)

You could try muffling the sounder with foam and tape.

would snipping this wire also mean the interior light wont come on aswell when door open, iv lost my beep and my light :( i like it as im forever leaving lights on

The sounder is part of the multi-function-unit MFU that's pluged into the rear of the main fuse board.
The pic below shows the inside of the MFU and the round sounder, the sound comes through a small hole in the outer case,
