A/C pump removal, 300tdi

How much engine power does the A/C pump sap?
Mine doesnt work, the air con that is.
It might just need a recharge but i never use it.
I thought about binning the pump all together, would i run into problems?
Like engine balace or anything?

just remove the drive belt for the AC compressor

Unless the aircon is switched on the pump does nothing, its just a free running pulley.
If you have a problem with the pulley bearing on the pump just fit a non aircon serpentine belt which misses out the a/c pump HTSH

hi lad's just got tdi 300 my first landy. can any tell me if you can get a new bearing for the fanbelt tensioner as it drivein me mad .how easy it to change thanx's

The 300Tdi has a separate belt for the air con compressor. I removed mine because the belt was frayed and the air con didn't work any way

2) If you really need to ask then start your own thread

BTW
The answer is is 'yes', but if you do a search you would find that you may be able fix the problem (if it is squeaking) using a much cheaper method than buying a new bearing
