Rebuilding a 200tdi, and find I need ERR877, hose from the crankcase side breather to the rocker cover. A new one is £18.80 + VAT. I have a heater hose from the old 19J which fits perfectly.
The question is, will water hoses be oil resistant? Or should I stop being cheap and fit a new one. Anyone know? I have searched, apologies if I missed the answer:confused:

Some water hoses are, some might not be .. I'd try it, if it works then fine, if it doesn't you only need to clean it up again and buy 'real' hoses .. ;)

Reckon the only difference is the original has external braiding......presumably for extra protection cause it's pretty damn close to the front prop
It's the higher one, that runs from the rocker cover to about half way down the crankcase, so it's not too exposed. I had actually made one up from steel braided oil hose, but found that when I tried to fit the injector feed lines there wasn't enough space. It needs that tight bend at the top.

You can see the new pipe and the problem in the attached photo. My wife pointed out that I spent more time choosing the knicker red paint colour for the block than I spent on the living room colour.:p
