As all of you know using your defender off road and in water the handbrake fails to work. I know you can buy a disc handbrake system but was wondering if anyone had managed to sort out the original handbrake problem and keep it working properly.

the only surefire sollution is an x brake but i cant bring myself to spend £265 on one

I am contemplating making my own X-Brake up, basically getting a bike caliper or something along those line, get an X-Brake disc and then fabricate up a mount...

mk1v golf rear caliper is a cable driven disc hand brake, and i recon an old z750 front brake disc would fit the tbox with a bit of fiddling. can you tell ive looked into this?:D has anyone ever considered cross drilling the drum to allow the crap to get out? it might work ,after all brake discs are drilled:)
