Next Wed, I finally take delivery of my 05 HSE TD4 ;)

It has the Becker factory sat/nav/radio/CD stacker under the drivers seat.

I prefer to have an integrated single din radio/MP3/Bluetooth unit with aux in for satnav speech.

I user a Blaupunkt MP68 Hamburg that I'd like to install.

Question is, how easy is it to remove the Becker unit ?

Thanks in advance...........ebt

Also interested in this for my '04 HSE.

As I understand it the HK amp causes some complication when fitting a new head unit, it'd be interesting to hear from someone who has done it.

I've just replaced the Becker unit with a Pioneer AppRadio (double DIN). Getting the OEM kit out was a case of removing the centre console - all of it - to get to the screws that hold it in place. Sounds a bit daunting but it was a doddle really. Just be patient :)

Hi,

In an attempt to get music from my iPhone into the car I've tried the AUX input in the back of the Becker unit (replaces CD Changer), but it hasn't worked properly (iPhone only recognises the cable once after the Becker unit is plugged back in, after that it's dead).

So, i'm going to replace the head unit. It would be really good to get some definitive answers on this, so that myself and others don't make any costly mistakes.

I'd like to keep the Harmon Kardon amp etc. Those of you who have replaced the Becker, have you kept the amp?

I've read on other threads that if you plug a new head unit's speaker output into the amp, it might blow. Those of you who have replaced, did you use the pre-outs on your new head unit to prevent this?

Thanks,

The Pioneer AppRadio just plugged straight into the existing wiring (minus the steering wheel vol +/- etc. control) without any modification. I didn't actually think about the HK amp to be honest. Anyway, it all works a treat and nothing has blown.
