Hi there everyone this is my first time asking for help could anyone tell me how hard it would be to fit a discovery 300tdi into my series 3 109 pick up it already has a 2.5na diesel fitted but its knackered.I thought if i bought a discovery i would also get some bits for my p reg disco cheers in advance steve.

depends on what your after in the end as to how hard its gonna be

all i really know about this retrofit is if your using the disco gearbox and transfer box youll have to cut a large chunk out of the middle of the seatbox for the gear lever and build a larger tunnel to house the new gearbox wich is a world of fookin about

on the other hand i have heared you need to drill the bellhousing on your original gearbox to match the disco engine then mess about with the thrust bearings n clutch levers to get that working

in both instances you will have to remove the original engine mounts from the chassis and weld the ones from the disco into your chassis legs to accomodate the new engine

other than this i havent got much experience of this conversion but im sure it wont be long before someone with extensive knowledge of this comes along

but in the meantime see if the search function turns anything up as im sure theres a few threads on doing this type of upgrade :D:D:D

Cheers for that been told theres 3 or 4 bolts to sort on bell housing and drivers side engine mount wont be too bad if thats about it cheers
