So I'm abouts to buy a roof tent an thought I had better make sure my roof bars were all there. After not ever checking before. So I get them out an I'm wondering how the hell they hold anything atall, they are the standard type that fit between the front roof bars on my d1. I'm assuming this is nowhere near strong enough for a tent? Slightly cheesed off now

You need a proper roof rack for a roof tent ..

i have a tent for the floor and would happily put it on the roof but i dont drive a coach! roof tent is just somthing i want because i can, and also do alot of camping.. also planning on taking a trip to see the fiances family the year after next. sould take us around 6 months to get to cape town.

so a roof rack it is as always was the plan. just had the opertunity of a cheapish tent that i thought could fit to my bars, not to worry ill just have to save a little bit longer and get it all in one hit.
