Yesterday, changed the wheel bearing. Well technically speaking, I undid the wheel nuts......(.Ratty, I'll love you forever for your handmade wheel nut undoer ......... You get a cake of choice at the Bristol show :) ).. Couldnt do the actual bearings themselves as they were a bit stuckified :( then I got the job of tea bitch and then I got to fill the new bearings with grease. . Final job was putting the nuts back on.
So whilst I can't claim to have done it all myself I did get mucky hands and watched it all and asked lots of stupid questions. :)

I took it greenlaning yesterday, ran into a broken trio of hilux surfs :D so I sat and laughed at them with Phoebe cos they were lying in the rain for about an hour removing the front prop :D

Dads mate has a hilux, in fact it's here now being fixed, absolutely ****e, it gets confused by wet grass, wheels just spin  :D

These were all heavily modified, one was running a rear locker, front LSD with pickup axles, 8" lift and 37" tyres. Pointless on a greenlane tbh, none had snorkels though which confused me. You'd think if you're making a heavy duty offroader you'd put a snorkel on it

If the wuss under the umbrella-ella-ella got right under the vehicle he wouldn't need the brolly.:confused2::whoosh::bump2:

He was under it for a bit but had to come out and get a breaker bar :p I had a chat to him and he was running a bodged front prop/diff I think so no wonder it broke. All I remember was he said something had been welded together in that area then they drove it up from wales  the front axle locked up and he had rear drive only so it had to be dismantled

Even mine has a snorkel..... but it isn't connected up:bolt:

So long as each time you learn something new and your understanding of how things work deepens a little then there will come a point where it'll all start to click together and you'll intuitively know what every Landy mechanic must...

When you can hit it with a big hammer and when you can't! ;)

(yesterday) Took the Hicap to Padley wood pay and play! Great fun with my nearly-bald BFG trac edges. Wheel spinning everywhere in that mud.... I was well impressed with it in general though. (When I wasn't sat waiting for it to cool down!)
List of jobs - get some proper wheels/tyres and sort out the cooling system. Electric fans? New radiator...probably...
