Hi all,

just bought some lower door seals , do these fit to the doors themselves or do they get riveted to the vehicle just above the sills?

Cheers

Depends on which ones you have bought - the ones for your age of vehicle are riveted through the holes that should already be in the strips. Door mounted ones are thinner and fix differently.

What are seals? Whatever they are they don't seem to work on Land Rovers :D

There are no lower seals on the MOD 90's, they were never part of the contract. Little point in fitting them as they dont do anything worthwhile. A bare metal skin next to your leg will take more than a seal to insulate against!!

On my MOD 90 I like the fact the water can drain easily!!

I got some seals today. I'm wondering if I should put sealant behind before riveting.

it depends what variant, winterised variants have them normal GS/FFR do not

@Mackers You sure do like your old threads!!
I would not bother, and never have, with sealant behind them before fitting, but it will not do any harm.
As stated above seal is a relative term, so where as the will improve things, even with copious amounts of other sealent they will not be perfect compared to modern vehicle design.

Cheers. They've come as a pair and as far as I can tell, they're both the same (no mitres either side that would make them specific to left or right). I'll put a bead of seal behind anyway if it won't do any harm. Someone else said that about reviving old posts, but they're obviously on the system as posts, as they come up on my laptop when I use the search bar to ask a question??
