mg zr - disco 1 interchangeable parts

hi my disco didnt come with the remote for the central locking. So i was wondering if the ecu on a 03 mg zr be the same as the central locking ecu on a disco 300 shape as ive got one in the yard for spares?
or any other interchangeable parts?

your eyes can play silly tricks on you sometimes.. they do look the same dont they, a mgzr and a LANDROVER.. audi bits fit also.

and elec mirror switch is same and i know some of the engine plugs have bmw on them but surely theres some rover swap swap parts

Theres only so many parts manufactured and many different vehicle builders use parts that are present on other cars/vans/trucks . Theres some LDV van bits that go on D1s , I know , but I dont know how much link up there was between the disco and mg builds . Its easy to laugh , fun too , but in all seriousness , there were a whole load of later Rover car switches and ancilleries that were common with D1 and D2 .

Outside of vehicle maker branded parts , when you get to Bosch , Lucas , Hella and all that theres plenty of scope . I recall many years ago that a certain Hella headlamp cost a fortune if you bought it for a BMW (or summat fancy) but was chips if you bought it for a Capri . This holds true today too , even more so in the used parts world .

On the face of it maybe a silly question.....but theres a good deal of truth in the theory behind it . But ,really......an MGZ ? That was just asking for it !

Guessing he meant some of the switchgear etc as the MG range are parts BIN(should have stayed in there) specials

The charcoal canisters are the same im on a mission now. so really it made sense to me even if the drivetrain and engines are different, i bet theres more electrical parts that willl fit !!!

What the **** are you guys taking the **** for? it's a valid question, after all they were made from the same parts bin, not sure if you realise but they do share alot of electrical parts!

I wouldnt imagine the actual alarm ecu is the same though, the fobs may work but doubtful on the ecu side.

I wouldnt be suprised if the alarm ecu was the same as said before mg raided the old parts bin for many items not a stupid question at all check the parts number i know that my old rover45 had the same fob as the 1996+ disco 1 and it also had the same kind of emergency entry code ( using key in door code) for the immobiliser

I must admit I at first thought it was a wind up (few trolls about recently) but in the face of it it could be a reasonable question (if not a little optimistic lol) but many car parts are on more than one car.

And as for different prices for different wallets, Ive heard that apparently the disco 2 uses the same axles/diffs as the BMW X5! (D2s made up of ford and BMW parts apparently) the only difference is the price you pay (your gonna pay more to keep an expensive motor on the road than a banger) so if your breaking your disco 2 axles sell em as X5 parts and charge 3 times as much!
