Rock/Tree sliders

Woo hoo!

Just had my rock and tree sliders delivered from Richmond shot Blasting! They look really good (apart from a couple of scuffs that have revealed bare steel but I will sort that before fitting. The scuffs would be hidden when fitted but I need to keep corrosion at bay!) and certainly fit for purpose.

I will be fitting them very soon and will report back. Someone earlier suggested drilling and bolting the tubular extension that slides into the chassis. Can anyone remember the recommended bolt size?

Oh! And they were £95 pounds for the pair so if they fit they will be a good price.

Other rock sliders may be available. price stated was correct at time of going to press!

before you start thinking on drilling holes to hold the tubular bit....

test to see if it fits. My tubular bit that comes out the chassi had a bit of corrosion inside and it was a pain to get the tube in there....

M10 75mm x2 in each tube drilled horizontally - if you can get the tubes to slide in, use plenty of coppaslip to aid future removal

i used a hooge long drill bit to clean out tubular part as it was full of mud then applied plenty of copper grease and used a large rubber mallet to locate sliders

AFAIK The sliders replace the sill

not trimmed... removed!
and all the bolts will more than likely snap..

Mine are black and look great in my living room! I have been squirting the sill bolts with Plus Gas (Other penetrating oils are available) for a couple of weeks and have a variety of abradiscs and wire brushes stood by for the chassis mounts. There's also a tub of coppaslip maturing in the garage.
I was thinking of wet-assembling with etch primer though rather than coppaslip to try and keep corrosion at bay. This would make them a c**t to remove but might improve thier longevity. Any thoughts? I will deffo be wet assembling the bolts that I am fitting through the tubular section though as all modern bolts are made of monkey metal and come with corrosion seeded within them.
It wasn't me that asked about the sills, right! I am going to remove them very gently and eBay them as they are in good nick.
It's the mud flaps I'm concerned about as even though they are a bit 'gay' I would like to keep them If I can.

you dont need to worry about your mud flaps because they are nowhere near your sliders. but i geuss you mean yout arches/spats? i just trimmed mine. will try to find you a pic

Are the tubes not welded to the sliders or are you talking about the end that fixes to the chassis

The tubular tree sliders are welded (Neatly) to the rock sliders. I was asking about the tubular section that slides into the chassis.

I'm looking forward to getting them fitted this weekend

They took around 14 days to arrive but they are big and heavy! They also look very well made so worth every days wait if they fit!
