Just fitted the turbo pipes to my 200tdi 90 Defender

It has a 300 turbo fitted so the intake is pointing backwards towards the bulkhead.
I have managed to find a nice piece of flexi pipe that fits on the turbo and brings the inlet round to either under the heater motor area or alongside the intercooler pipe.

I would like to pipe it out the wing and upwards, either a snorkle with the K+N on top or the filter under the roof rack some where.

Open to ideas as I dont really want the exposed filter in the engine bay.

Have looked at putting it behind the headlamp which may be a solution if I cant get it to look right as a snorkle.:)

have you considered a sealed filter like the k&n apollo or something similar? Bought a universal filter for an old volvo for about 15-20 quid before and did the job.

been looking to do similar with mine since it never came with the original filter box and has been running around with a green filter from a saxo vts until i get the snorkel made up and then fit a covered filter in line.

EDIT - something like this Urban X Funnel Air Filter [MPUAF4] Chrome | eBay

Yes had a look at that......very nice, a bit blingy an I was hopin not to have to spend any money:)

Got a K+N type filter but no good under bonnet as it will get filthy very quickly.
Could use drainpipe and route it any where I spose. maybe along the chassis and up through the interior and out the roof:D

got a green filter about 6" from my turbo at the mo and looking to change asap but did some boggy/wet lanes recently without prob :)

Ebay: 250922685539 ;)
V cheap as they are going for £50+ elsewhere
(ad is nothing to do with me ;) )

is that not just the same fitting as a standard filter?

As he has changed his turbo it could be just what he needs to allow him to use a snorkel and to make sure that the air intake is water tight????
Better than a boy racer induction kit thingy ;) AND its £14!!!!

and half as much again for postage ;)

think the OP is looking for the free option either way

i am in the same situation fella, after i fitted my 200. at the mo i have a cone air filter behind the light as you say, its not too bad, but did get splashed slightly while driving through puddles offroad.

i saw a guy near me the other day who, i assume, had a pipe straight off the turbo, out of the wing and up with one of these...

in, then to the usual snorkle top part. there is a parts shop near me selling for 50 quid.. but he wasnt sure how water tight they are. but seeing as he had it in the snorkle about half way up his windscreen, you are going to have to be going very deep to get water in it!

I'm not bothered about having to buy a couple of hose clips:D

The problem I have is that there isn't much space under the heater blower motor, the footwell is in the way.

Would like it as a snorkle but filter under bonnet or on top of snorkle.

have a look at that link i posted. should be perfect..

Had a look at that an it's perfect but....

Want to do it on the cheap.

I'll have a look at the plastic drain pipe option with the K+N on the end of it.
Just where to route it
Got to be different:)

hahaa its all about the cheap! this i why my cone filter isnt going anywhere too fast!

is this a track beamer i see you have now?
