:) My disco seems too be smokeing a little underload, its a white/grey smoke, which indicates fuel, it doesent burn any oil, and im just wondering if the diesel pumps are adjustable? and if so has anyone got any ideas on how many degrees to go with it?
thanks guys.

White smoke may indicate water in the combustion chamber.

Do not play with the pump advance and retard if you don't KNOW what your doing. It can be expensive to fix and at worse can faff your engine big time.

Make sure your engine is well serviced this can eliminate a lot of the problems you have.

its to tell what is cause of white smoke water disappears straight away unburnt fuel hangs about id check egr valve been stuck open, advanceing pump is easy remove three scres on inspection plate on timing cover or behind tensioner if aircon, turn engine till pin or 9.5 drill bit can be inserted right through pulley into pump slacken 3 x bolts 10mm socket and turn pump nut 22mm or 7/8 clockwise against pin then retighten if you need to advance further use smaller drill bit 9mm then 8.5 etc only slacken the 3 pump pulley bolts with pin in

I'd have said black would be fuel on a diesel.

Blue would more likely be oil.

White would be turbo bearings, or mistaking steam for smoke.

Thanks for that james, yeah i was pretty sure it was fuel, as you say if it hangs around, adjusted it today and it seems too be running spot on. :)
i also removed the egr and fitted a blanking kit, and removed and chemicaly cleaned the inlet manifold.
