Im trying to get the cubby box, ashtray, blower centre console out of a p38.

Ive got all the gearstick and side panel end out but I cant get the back end to come free. I cant even see how you unscrew the lid of the cubby box which has a flip over drinks holder.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have the rave book on cd but couldnt find the relevant section anywhere. I just stumbled across it in "chassis and body" chapter.

Apparently the base of the cubby box comes out, somehow. Then you can unscrew the rest.

Thanks for the tip.

The lid is screwed on at the back, tiny headed screws but you should find them with a torch. Have you lifted the base of the box out?

false floor in cubby box, but I could be imagining it as I have taken various **** apart after owning a p38

I can't get the base out of my cubby box either (I want to wash it as it's covered in a layer of decaying boiled sweets and other such filth from the last owner...).

It seems to clip in but I haven't worked out how to pop the clips off even when reaching in from the front with the electric window switches' panel removed. I have big hands though so I may not be the ideal person for this job..!

Floor of the cubby box just lifts out, use a spring hook slid down the front edge to hook it up. The fixing bolts are underneath.

The hook idea works - but it still needed a damn good pull before it popped out. I was terrified I was going to bust it.

Hooking the end of 90 deg circlip pliers around the forward edge of it seems to work well.
