Engine loom plug...(whats it for)

Found this plug loose under the bonnet whilst having a little check over,looks like its been disconnected for some time but does anybody know what its for and should it be attached to anything,its a 1999 disco2 td5...

Cheers for that Paul,is it best i re-connect it or does it not realy matter as i know a few on here who have done away with the EGR altogeather...

I don't really know, I've never had an engine with one fitted

Lots of TD5 owners de-EGR their engine, but I thought that it involved a bit more than just unplugging it

Think im going to have a look under the bonnet of another td5 owner whilst away camping next week as there's bound to be another on camp site lol,had another look today and ive already got a black plug connected in that location,maybe take the engine top cover off and have a look under there...
