lost all drive

Oh joy i have lost all drive .No big bangs all drive shafts etc ok anyone any ideas.

Try putting the small gear lever out of neutral and into high or low ratio.

Thought that but the transfer lever aint worked for a few months now.(its on the list) Thinking it may be jumped out of high ratio to neutral but without a working lever dont know how to get it back.

Put it in first gear with it in high or low with the engine running ,no diff lock or handbrake on then let the clutch up.
Now the dangerous bit is to get out and look at the front and rear prop, if one is spinning it's that axle that's broken, if non are spinning it's a problem with the gearbox/transfer box or clutch.

So in theory if it is a broken axle if i can get it in diff lock i can drive it home (about half a mile).

I did remove the prop from my broken axle just in case the diff gears that had fallen out jammed the diff case.

well i can crunch gears so am thinking clutch ok.Had centre console out to check linkages.The small lever operated by hi / low lever does not seem to move much .Def wont go past verticle forwards for low ratio.

That's nice, but you have not done what I said to do in my first reply.
Taking out the centre console was pointless , do the in gear look under test

sorry yeah did that before looking at linkage and no movement on either shaft

Take cover off back of t box and check splines and do in gear running check ,very dangerous to do on your own.

No, it's higher than the oil level.

i would check its actually is in hi or low first ,it may just of jumped out

i think it has jumped out but cant get it back in .The linkage all moves fine and the actual lever on the transfer box moves but not much about 40 degrees from vertical back to what should be hi position and there seems no resistance on the lever.

you should feel positive selection as hi or low selected you may find it easier to jack a front wheel up to help as hi/low is a dog clutch and wont go in unless in line,there is a grub screw on lever in top housing on t/box that comes loose ,and linkage can be adjusted with 13mm spanner on nuts near t/box end of linkage or by undoing lever end and moving on the splines or by removing gaiter and removing gate plate and refitting gaiter

use my diff lock quite often but its still easier to get it in when ya rollin a little..

if ya stationary it can be a bit difficult...
