Just a quick question
I have reason to belive that my right had cat has collapsed
I also have loads of 3" tubing kicking around
So is it worth removing the cats and puting a straight through sleave on?
What benifits will i get/what draw backs too? Do i leave the lamber sensors in?
I know its not mot-able but it'll give me time to get a new one then
Please dont go on about how if the police find out i can get done cos in 17 years of driving ive never had a copper look under the car

I did it on my one of my old V8 classics, but you need to leave the lambardas in place or it will cause ECU issues. You will see a difference in power and an improvement in m.p.g.

By taking the cat away you remove a restriction the slows the exit of exhaust gases. MOT does depend on your relationship with the tester.

I'd be interested to hear how you get along, particularly noise levels once cats are out.
well ive just finished choping up an old cat i had behind the shed
pipes were good but a missfire killed it on my old rr
came across few problems
firstly the pipe going into the cat is 60mm o/d and the pipe coming out is 55mm o/d so that caused about an hour of head tapping
secondly the pipe that comes out is a good 3inch higher than the pipe that goes in im hopeing that the main part of the system will pull down far enough for that with i bit of a bend over my knee and some revised rubbers
anyway ive have a mate weld it all up and its waiting to be put on
but thats gona have to be next weekend now cos ive found ive got a snaped stud on the manfold to cat flange,so thats to be taken off and drilled out.
but ill keep you posted
