Im looking at a Series landrover my mate is selling at the moment that needs the rear 1/4 replacing, he has the part ready to swap over.

Due to not being able to weld how much roughly would a garage charge to replace this???

You not got a mate who can weld or someone you can pay cash to nip round and do it?

Problem with a garage doing it is the labour cost for taking apart and putting it all back together again, if you can do that bit yourself and just get someone in to weld it it'll work out cheaper.

where are you located, I run my own engineering buisness, and have my own workshop have already replaced a 1/4 chassis on one of my SIII, and also done the same on a 110. If you need help then please contact me I am based in Derbyshire.

Where abouts in Derbyshire are you? You sound like a useful person to know... :) What kind of engineering does your business do?

hi,

My workshop is between Ripley and Ilkeston at a place called Horsley Woodhouse.

My normal day job is Steam engine boilers and other railway vehicle parts, ie engines, bogies, gearboxes etc but am always looking at other work.

At the moment looking at purchasing a CNC Lathe machine as i have had several enquires for small batches of components that a CNC Lathe would be perfect for.

But when I have no work on or want a day of, I work on my landrovers and other peoples.

I have just about completed the full rebuild of my SI new galv chassis etc, just need to finish wiring and it is of for its first MOT in over 10 years.

I have already started my next project which is a SII 88' but 1/2 way through it decided to get rid of the 2 1/4 diesel and throw in a 200 TDI but then the SI came along so it go put to one side.

I have owned and worked on dozens of landrover, and got load of spare parts probably enough bits to rebuild another one if I got a chassis.

I am keeping my eyes out for a SII 109 station wagon.
