I seem to be one of the few that have come to take out the rear air springs (plastic top and bottom) and its all gone well except for the upper plastic mounting seems to have welded itself to the steel mounting. HOW??!! To quote Blackadder, its stuck as Sticky the stick insect, stuck on a sticky bun. Any suggestions welcome. Currently soaking in Plus Gas. Is it just a case of buying a big lump hammer and sharp chisel, then battering the hell out of it? :D

At least the back end underside of my RR is now clean - most of the crap is in my eyes

The spring cap is being held in place by rust - just give it a damn good smack, several times if you have to.:D

Thanks and I agree, but it beats me why a plastic / metal contact joint should hold so tight! I've been thumping and pulling on it with ever tool in my garage!! I must need some bigger stuff. Dynamite might do it :)

Just did mine last week. I stuck a pry bar in the small gap between the inner wheelarch and the chassis rail. With the end of the bar positioned on top of the bulge where the air-hose connects, I pushed upwards on the bar. It took a good heave and came off with a loud crack. Altogether a very easy job though - I think I did both of them in less than an hour.

Good luck!

I had same problem. Fixed it the same way with a crowbar. It's only stuck in there.

Sound like a daft point but worth mentioning
have you taken off the clips on top of the spring? Or are they just on the front springs?

I did double check several times I'd taken the top clip out just to make sure I wasn't going mental :D:D:D

The good new is I've just been and bought a set of Draper pry bars, reduced from 29 to 12 quid at the local hardware store. It took the biggest 2ft bar, but after a couple of mins of pressure from above, the cap went BOOOM!!! and came flying out, as you guys said it would. Fantastic, thanks for the help once again everyone!! :):):)
