Morning chaps.
After spending the last hour reading up on here about the EAS inactive faults i am puzled as to what it could be. Reson being is because i took it to a LR specialist the other day to plug it up to tel me why the engine management light was on. He checked the suspension aswell and all was fine. He said it had had a problem in the past though?
He also re-calibrated it for me.

So why, only 3 days later has it given me a fault. All was working fine the same day it happened. When i was driving home last night i held down the right hand side push button where the rev counter and spedo is to see what it would do. After i held it down the EAS fault came on.

Is this just a coincidence?

Now the suspension is frozen in the normal ride height position. Can't move it up or down.

To my dissmay, i've just found out it has had a new front end put on it. Also when i test drove it, there was a red light on te dash which i thought was just the seat belt light but it is the air bag light. Feel so stupid now!
Can't belive that to$$er sold me a car that has been in a prang and probably now has no drivers air bag! I could never sell someone a car that is missing an air bag if its meant to have one!

Anyway, where is the best and cheapest place to start. I've read a lot about pressure release valves or switches? Where are these and what do i check?

Cheers guys.

And yes, im a total newbie!

:welcome2: The SRS airbag light does not necessarily mean the airbag is missing, but after an accident that causes an airbag to fire the SRS ECU has the be replaced as a "Fired Airbag" fault cannot be re-set.:(

Hi Datatec.

I don't know for sure if its missing or not but i know its had a new front end put on it because there is no VIN sticker on the front bumper under the hood. Well at least thats what a parts guy told me at my local LR dealer.

The guy i bought it off was a crook and didn't look after it at all so im just assuming that its gone off and he hasn't paid for a new one fitted. (very expensive aren't tey?) I will have to check but thats my gut feeling.

Is there a way that i can check if there is still an airbag in the steering wheel? And also is a new SRS ECU expensive and is it easy to re fit myself?

Cheers mate.
Jay.

I'm not familier with the L322. I have just replaced the SRS ECU on my P38. Tkaes a while to get at it but otherwise it's simple. You really need to get the SRS fault codes read and cleared, that will tell you if the all the airbags are present, it will give an open circuit fault for missing bags. If all the bags are present and you still have an SRS fault after clearing the faults it means you have a hard fault i.e. a fired airbag. At least that is the way it works on a P38.

Might pay you to invest in a fault code reader from Blackbox Solutions or rswsolutions if you plan to keep the car.

Hello mate.
Is reading the SRS ECU different to reading the normal ECU? By that i mean is there a seperate place to plug in to read the SRS ECU?
Im probably going to buy the new All Comms by Storey at RSW solutions so i will be doing plugging it in myself.
Sounds like it's worth it as i will be keeping her for about a year and it's already got faults comming out her **** :D . I want to fix her up. Poor girl has been neglected by Brummies for god knows how long! :D

As I said, I don't know the L322, but all the diagnostics are from the one OBD connector. On the P38 the SRS has a dedicated pin on the OBD connector.

The previous guy has told you a porky you need special block to calibrate the eas on the l322 using ids or sdd diagnostics
On the l322 the most coman is the comp failing in the turtle in the boot due to water ingress from the l/h rear window seal/body join also wire corrosion on the multiplex ring main too
Depending on the year it may have missed the mod for the pressure switch and the software upgrade

Sorry my mistake! Thinking back, it was the GEARBOX he re-calibrated.
Oh well, i will update after i take it back down the garage next week hopefully.

Its stuck in normal ride height mode at the moment so i can still drive it.
Will it just stay like this and be fine to drive or will it eventually deflate after use?
