All comms from Storey Wilson is now available at £184.00 ($295) only does L322 at the moment but other software on the way.

what about the bloody p38 stuff..

He says it is coming. But the unit itself at £184.00 not locked to a vehicle and covering three types with free software updates for ever more, has to be seriously better than £600.00 + for one you can only use on one P38, L322 or Disco. And you have to buy seperate software for each.

Excellent!.. i saw the video update last night, and was smiling from ear to ear :D.

But I will have to wait for the P38 version though. Great price and free upadtes "for ever more"

Anyway, back to my hourly routine of refreshing his news page :monitor_punch:

The software doesnt appear to be as comprehensive as the BBS system, but I guess you get what you pay for. I have a feeling a lot of people were hoping that it was going to be free like the EAS unlock.

Don't think the link hardware was ever going to be free, just the software. Lots of people sell electrical stuff that costs peanuts to make but the software to run it costs a bloody fortune. This is a quantum leap in cheap diagnostics for our cars. We now have a reasonably priced alternative to being up against a wall with a gun to our heads. Which is basically what it's been like up to now. You either paid through the nose or didn't have anything. Well done Storey Wilson.

If you have an L322 that is true, but at the moment there only seems to be the EAS for the P38. It will be interesting to see whether the BECM will ever be fully covered.

We will have to wait and see Keith. I am not rushing to buy one at the moment. But if he can manage the L322 then i think he will sort out the P38 sooner or later. Even if it's not as comprehensive as some, it is a lot better what most can afford now, which is nothing and having to be stung by dealers. Give the guy a chance this could be the best thing that's come up for a very long time.

I reckon that the L322 being CAN BUS is probably an easier job than the P38 which was ahead of the game and is therefore unique. I'm all for Storey, I reckon he must be working his nuts off as he has the new kiddie, a full time job and this project. Power to his elbow, I just had a situation that could not wait.

lads,

do we all realize a a breakthrough this really is? its the beginning of the end of being held over a barrel. its a START. it will evolve and get better as storeys skills improve. i wonder did BBS release the MSV-2 on his 1st time? im guessing the answer is in the name....."2" lol

but really this is a milestone. the more support he gets the more it will move forward.

cant wait to see what the P38 software will look like.

The only downside seems to be that customs and excise will add 20% VAT plus any import duty. So it could be around £220.00 plus $28.00 shipping and any import duty to get one shipped over here. I have known the planks at customs to charge VAT on the US postage costs also. So it is not all good news. Something reasonably cheap in the states becomes expensive in rip off Britain.

All of the diagnostic gear is getting cheaper as time goes on - I was offered the full IDS system today at a trade show for £2500+ vat. May seem alot, but not really compared to the £9187+vat I paid for Testbook back in 2003.
I wonder if all the manufacturers will be forced eventually to make all cars a direct plug in to a laptop.... I think that would be a good thing, then diagnostics would be back to a level playing field, down to the individuals ability to interpret the info - not who has the biggest chequebook to buy all the toys.
As an aside I was really ****ed off at many of the exhibitors - most were selling things that were either solutions looking for problems,or things like coil springs.Until recently coil springs lasted the life of the car,now they are changed more often than spark plugs on many cars.
dual mass flywheels are another good example.

You could ask Storey to send it marked as a gift and have it as a value of 24$ so you avoid paying the import tax and duty. Its what alot of companies do these days so you don't have to pay the robbing tax!!!

Doesn't always work. I bought a lens from a company in Hong Kong. They even wrapped it in birthday paper, but I still had to pay some tax on it. Not sure how they calculated the amount though - I think they just made it up as it bore no relation to either the UK value or the cost.

Partners daughter just got her wedding dress from States £275.00. Same dress £1,700 in shops here. That also arrived from the peoples republic of where everythings made these days. Package value $50.00. Paid £17.50 duty on it at the door. So the Yank made a few bob the Chink made a few bob and our government made a few bob. And she got a nice dress for around £300.00. Question that really needs asking is WHY it costs so much in our shops.

There all feckin robbing bastids!!!

Wammers you are exactly right makes you wonder how much profit margin they are putting on their products.
