give up on primo buddy...8 seems fine and dandy..can't wait to get it now...and get some more pics of that rear view camera up will ya ;)

What do you want more pictures of the camera for??? Nothing much more to show, two wires from the head (or one depending in where you take feed from) remove trim, remove door handle, fit wire, remove O/S light, cable to reverse light, fit all parts, job done!

One last go with Primo today as I'm off work, will see if this works!?

No I did order the camera, didn't come with the unit. They're all pretty much the same just pick one you like the look of, wouldn't take to much notice of write ups, if you know what I mean, you either want LED or standard.

I went standard night vision as works fine. £4 I think!? was the best shape:Dunit.

cheers mate, was more the shape/fixing that i was looking at rather than the write up, oh and the price of course lol

quick question about igo...do you adjust the res by changing the sys.txt file? noticed its set at 480x234 and need it at 800x480 ;)

Yes but you'd also need a file in branding & data, try it first you prob don't need to change as yours is more rez (you can go down but not up) if things dont look right, then change sys txt. You may be lucky?

:D

finally !

although theres a couple of snags.

freeview channels dont really pick up any channels at all, depends on where you are, ie at home today = no channels. at tesco, 10 mins down the road i got 12 channels.

and i mounted the antenna onto the windscreen by the rear view mirror.

as far as i can tell at the moment, you cant listen to your music or radio while using the sat nav !!! which is total pants !!! im hoping there is a work around for this ????:mad::mad:

and the GPS keeps disconnecting the gps antenna, i have to keep going into settings and re-adding it to the config to get gps to work !

oh and the bluetooth, wireless music transfer thingy, which plays your songs off your iphone using bluetooth is crap ! the sound quality is not very good, it sounds crackly, but perfect when playing the songs off SD card.

other than that, its not bad

the hands free works well tho

think you just need to sit and play with it for a bit longer !!!!

how's the res on the nav screen?? ben looking into changing the res to 800x480 but its not as straiht forward as i thought :(

oh yeah, .........1 bloody pic!!! is that alll !!!

got the dual sound to work.

as in sat nav whilst listning to radio / music

you just cant change the track without going out of the sat nav mode.

i can live with that i guess lol :D

Nice to see it in hippo
Although I'm Right gutted the iPhone music transfer is crap this was one of the reasons I wanted it. That and the blue tooth and sat nav. Not bothered about tv or even DVD really.
Well as long as it does what you need it too mate.

yes, its not a bad unit really, what you have to remember these only cost 200 quid, thats alot of stuff im getting for the money compared to the same unit but an alpine one for over £800. I cant moan really,

its not like the iphone music tranfer is un bearable, the higher quality tracks sound good, just most of the music has a slight crackle to it when playing which i dont like, but you could put up with it to be honest.

But i prefer the SD card method, that way it displays all the track listings and names and it sounds perfect !

bang in an 8GB card, music, films and tv shows all on it ! LOVELY :D

Anyway, A more in depth version of my install as promised.

My old existing head unit, still selling for £200 - only been in 8 months lol

used a double to single din adapter to fit it.

loosen the centre panel facia and handbrake assembly so that front console can be pulled forward to gain access to stereo for removal.

IMG_0824.jpg

removed old head unit.

IMG_0828.jpg

New double din facia adapter. so that the new double din head unit fits nice and neat :D

The GPS And Freeview Antennas

IMG_0814.jpg

installed the GPS antenna just in the cavity under the drinks holder in the dash as shown in the picture:

installed the freeview antenna on the windscreen by the rear view mirror.

New double din assembly for head unit

IMG_0829.jpg

sorting out remote steering control wiring.

IMG_0832.jpg

wiring config:

black/red cable = common

Black/White cable = switch 1 / key 1
Solid black cable = switch 2 / key 2

Also installed an iso plug for the steering controls, so it can just be unplugged if i ever need to remove the new stereo. makes life easier.

(also soldered another one to the head units connections)

There are unit that "will not only play IPOD but will copy contents to the head as long as SD available, you can find them on Ebay around £230.00 mark off memory.

If you tap the dual icon it should take you to tracks or remote should do it? Well thats what happens on mine....

Looks good Hippo!!

And lots of photos!! Great!

What you have in IGO8 is correct, no difference in this of other res size 480 or 800. Your unit convert the res so what you've got on your screen is correct, it's only if your unit has a lower res then you need to resize or the addresses that appear on the top or bottom etc don't appear on the screen, as you've taken out the addresses via Edit, your unit is doing everything correct.

If you can see all the writing in all the menus and diff screens within !GO then it's fine!!

Right down to the Tech, Maps and POI and 3D can be updated to 2010, this is what we talked about earlier in thread, as far as I'm aware nothing for 2011 as yet.

TV = Booster, if you can live with it don't worry if not you gotta buy a booster, same principle as freeview booster for home, needs electricity to work correctly, these come in around £30 mark for cars.
