serial (vin) number location

hi all one of my customers has an old 200 discovery with an original v8 engine and he needs to get the engine number . anyone know where to find it ? im not to familiar with the v8s and im not sure where i should tell him to look . a pic would be nice

no the disco was imported from japan and there is no paper work for it

vin would bew stamped on rh front chassis leg near pas box forward,or on vin plate on brake pedal box or on plate lower lh front corner windscreen
