Hello my names stu & im based in somerset and am looking to buy a classic range rover for general use & green laning, im hoping that for under a grand i can get something thats mechanically soundish, with mot, preferably v8 with lpg ! Or should i go for diesel power ? Which of the two would be cheaper to run ?
Im not that worried about the exterior condition or the interior to be honest but i dont want to buy a lot of hassle mechanically !
I have been advised by several poeple to stay away from the p38 as the air suspension can bring expensive problems ! I prefer the classic anyway !
Im no expert so any advice you guys & gals can provide would be greatly appreciated !
Im aware of the classic corrosion points and idle problems seem quite common.
But appart from that is there anything else i should look out for ?
Ive come across several that have sold on ebay recently and a couple of them seemed good general vehicles and sold for less that a grand !
Is this a fair price for a classic ?
Are they reliable ?
I have also looked at the jap option but insurance is triple and they are more expensive ( is this because they are more reliable ) ?
like i said any advice will be greatly recieved, and thank you for taking the time to read !
cheers
