Td4 - lost engine oil - outlook ?

I'm in the process of changing the engine and the replacement engine comes from a crashed 06 .
Tonight I found that a vertical stub on the rocker cover has been broken off leaving a hole of about 2cm in the rocker cover . The r cover from the 'old ' engine is fine BUT having seen the problems of removing injectors (even though I removed them from the old engine last week easily enough) I am considering leaving the cover with the hole there and repairing it -
does anyone have a good idea on how to fix it ?

I am replacing the clutch disc and pressure plate -
should the slave cylinder be replaced also ( 70K mls done)?

And to finish up for now - I decided to remove the heater plugs from the old head and guess what happened ? one of them broke and the hex piece is now turning freely but the plug isn't coming out . Wasn't I relieved that it wasn't in an engine in a car.
And there wasn't much pressure on it when it broke - the first time a heater plug broke on me .

hello, I too lost oil and now need a new engine. Did you have any problems fitting the newer engine, did any of the parts need changing, and did the ecu in your car have any problems with the newer engine.

Don't know about the fitting of a new engine but what caused your engine to loose (all ?) oil ? Was it due to a blocked engine breather filter ??

Yes, crankcase breather blocked and an obviously weak gasket was the fisrt to go, that was nearly 2 months ago. Only just got the funds to buy a new engine

does any 1 know or have a picture of where de crankcase breather filter is as today my jeep smokes like a chimney on a cold winter night and also now gettin an engine rattle at 3.000 revs aswel as de smoke .

Why are you asking on a landrover forum about a jeep?:confused::confused:

Jeep in the meaning of 4x4 as people also generally say "Bic" for a ballpoint.:)

And the crankcase breather filter is the item marked as 1. The round thing below the figure 1 plus the rectangular one below the yellow arrow below the 1 are one part and make the crankcase breather filter.

Or is it:- jeep in the meaning of I'm too embarrassed to admit I own a freelander
:D:D:D

Seems as you're ill in the same bed as us than, proudly owning a Freelander, if not it looks as you're so jealous not having a FL that you can't stop coming lurking on this FL forum .....:D:D:D:D

Kinky bastid. . . . .

Honi soit qui mal y pense ...... (I was referring to an armrest, positioned between the two frontseats, in the light palish leatherupholstry, in a Freelander Td4 MY01 in Epsom green and with a Steptronic gearbox).:D:D:D
