I was referring to the threatening text messages that the land rover seller claimed to have received, but you're right, calling them a thief in a public forum would also be libel, so also rather ill advised.

If you'd care to go back and read the relatively few posts i've made on your forum you'll see that i've mentioned that i think that the blatant passing off of 90's as tax exempt is taking the ****, you'll also see that i've had not one but two land rovers stolen from me along with about £3K's worth of uninsured tools and equipment so i'm not about to act as an apologist for the scrotes who are stealing land rovers.

However, mob justice is never acceptable. it's up to the police and courts to decide if an offence has been committed, not a court of blokes off the internets, and the people who sent message to the seller, whoever they may be, would have been better served reporting the matter to the police and insisting they took some action.

Unless Notaman is actually the current nom de plume of Victoria Beckham, I don't think anyone is particularly ill advised or risks a costly court battle even if they called her 'an ugly sperm sucking thief who ought to die slowly in a thick miasma of rancid monkey bile'..................which of course, I wouldn't wish on anybody.

well yes, maybe the police aren't the best, but what's the alternative? get an angry pitchfork wielding mob together and go round and give someone who just might be an innocent party a good kicking?

The point is, regardless of the rights and wrongs of this specific case, sending harassing messages to the seller would be a really bad idea because it could get the person doing it in trouble, any moral issues aside for that reason alone it's a really, really dumb thing to do. In addition, and this is probably more important still, libelling someone in a public forum is also a rather bad idea, not only could it cause problems for the person doing it, but it could also come back and bite the forum's owners on the arse as well. just saying like.
