Dear all,

LandyWatch have been approached by the rural crime team of the Police AVCIS to assist them in identifying sellers of suspect Landy Log books/Vin plates etc on Ebay, particularly when no or very little of the chassis is included.

Membership on LW is still pretty low, but I am mindful that many folk on here keep an eye on both Ebay and Gumtree and post up suspicious sales, so I'm hoping that across a number of Landy Forums, we can point the police in the right direction, particularly as they approached us and they're willing to listen and hopefully act.

I'll keep an eye on the posts on here, LW and one other forum and then I'll collate/copy the details over to AVCIS every few days. That way, their email address won't get clogged up with duplicates.

Cheers

:D

Great news - maybe this should be a sticky for people to post up dodgy ones in with an admin clearing out old eBay items which have been removed from eBay every now and then?

Bought time, my bothering law Is looking for a 90 and he just came to me an said where do I start dome oldstuff looks new but nothing looks the same.

Is there not a loop hole with calling the hybrids?

Nice... Just a thought.. my vin plate came off when I caught my cuff on it recently under the bonnet.. I havent put it back on as I didnt want to drill out the rivets (as I dunno how deep they go) I am also reluctant to re-attach and make it look dodgy ? Ideas ? Just redrill and stick it on ?

Thanks all for what's been posted so far. Have passed it on to AVCIS. I understand that they are working with the DVLA on this trial.

Please keep them coming

According to the seller it is road legal & tax exempt.

I'm no expert but I agree with Martin1512.... If the ad is right and the work was done in 2008 then, as I understand it, for it to retain its original 1959 VIN then the chassis should be the original or a new like to like replacement (with evidence of purchase). No mods allowed to the chassis, (leaf to coil springs for example) and then on top of that, there should be a number of other original key mechanical components to gain enough points with the DVLA vehicle inspection.

This is a good guide

In a nutshell, I reckon that should be on a Q plate. I'll flag it AVCIS anyway

Added on edit : To be fair though, if it's only being used on private land and SORN'd anyway then I guess there's no short term issue ?????
