Bit of a touchy subject this i know so go easy this is just a query!
Been offered my ultimate landy; early 110 v8. Trouble is it has no vin no, no v5 and no number plates. It needs a new chassis. Is this car just fit for parts or could I q plate it with a new chassis? No idea where its id has gone nor the seller.
Do I walk away and forget it or can it be saved?
Thanks

Its unusual that the VIN V5 and Plates are all 'Missing" to me unless its dirt cheap and you know you could sell the parts if it didnt work out id leave it. You may well be buying trouble there.. How well do you know the person thats selling it?

Well enough so no probs there. Just seen photos of vin plate and registration. It all checks out on hpi ok but its registered scrapped. I wonder if it could be revived by dvla? If not I guess its spares only?

I've bought vehicles in the past that were registered scrapped. I had to fill a form in and send photos of them and all the numbers etc. I got logbooks no problem. You'll just have to make sure no one is using the id on something else. If you know the reg number do a hpi check online and check the dvla vehicle check website to see if it is currently being used on another vehicle

by no vin do you mean no plate on the brake servo mounting ? because it will be stamped into the chassis as well .

What he said... what's the offside chassis leg like at the front? Should be stamped on side facing away from engine just behind where the bumper bolts to.. Even if you can only make a few numbers out it gives you something to compare to?

it wouldn't have to go on a q plate if it had the chassis number and the engine number that matches the hpi report. its history would be available and the original number or an age related reg. the problem would be if it was stolen. even if someone else was using the id it would be up to them and you to prove who has the original vehicle. i agree it could be a load of ball ache but it wouldn't of put me off if the deal was good enough.
