Knocking/clunking noise after going up mountains

Yep, that sounds like the problem. I just now need to go to garage and translate to french! Prop shafts.....you'd never believe I lived with a car dealer in my 20s, hence my somewhat hazzy, oft somewhere in the distance, car knowledge. Kisses, Jules xxxxx

Knocking/clunking noise after going up mountains

Wait a minute while I stop laughing.......no! No other garage in my area will touch my car as it is english and I can't fault the effort my mechanic has put in to keeping the defender running, he is a specialist in heavy goods vehicles. The nearest Landriver specialist is 70 kms away and I...

Knocking/clunking noise after going up mountains

Yes. Propshaft......does that ring a bell with anyone? Pretty much sure, until told by my mechanic there was nothing wrong, that the problem was somewhere in that area. I always said it was steering column/bush related but not even sure that's near the propshaft? Husband always did the...

Knocking/clunking noise after going up mountains

No, no loss of traction, everything fine apart from noise. Have done search and nearest problem seems to be prop shaft thread. Will now investigate Prop Shaft. Thanks. Want to keep car on road as it was my husbands and I like driving it now he's gone.

Knocking/clunking noise after going up mountains

Hi, I haven't posted for a while as Defender 2.5tdi 1989 has been sitting at my mechanics for 6 months while I decided whether it was worth chucking more money at it as the Power Steering Pump needed replacing. Decided to go ahead and it then passed its CT (MOT). However, after 20 kms up and...

Nooooo, looks a mucky job, it's bad enough cleaning off the oil that's leaking out, I think I'll use the girly card on this one :D;)

Possible Rocker Cover Gasket Leak, can anyone advise please?

Hi, my gasket has finally arrived from Paddocks and my car is booked in for this Wednesday. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the time it may take to the garage to replace it, assuming it's straightforward and they don't find any other problems, lol.

Possible Rocker Cover Gasket Leak, can anyone advise please?

Hi, sorry I've haven't been online to report back, had really bad case of flu. I've now ordered the part from Paddocks and sorted out a garage to do the work when it finally arrives, although as I'm in France the first 2 garages looked horrified and said they didn't do English cars, life is...

Possible Rocker Cover Gasket Leak, can anyone advise please?

Right, have done that, there's a slight leak, so I'll order a new gasket from Paddocks and make an appointment at the garage (I'm in France, they will take forever to get one). Of course, even with latex gloves on I've now got oil on my face, in my hair and all over one finger where there was a...
