Right, have done that, there's a slight leak, so I'll order a new gasket from Paddocks and make an appointment at the garage (I'm in France, they will take forever to get one). Of course, even with latex gloves on I've now got oil on my face, in my hair and all over one finger where there was a hole in my glove :D:D

I'll try the oil cap removal trick when I get back from giving it a slow, gentle spin to warm up the engine. Now, can you promise me if I take off the cap whilst the engine is running I won't be back on here saying I'm covered from head to foot in oil
lol just don't look down the hole with your eye
Wouldn't expect more than 1/2 labour on that ok x

take the filler cap off at arms length and dont look down the filler neck,i just want to see if there is a lot of back pressure coming out of the filler neck.

Even with the steps, everything is at arms length :D:D. Off to do it now, will let you know later. Thanks.

Well ok if you think your ok with it next time it Conks out crack open an injector pipe at the injector end turn it over and see if fuel is comming out !

okie thanks :) will have ago

Ok hijacker just been thinking about you when you say its cuts out, is it a complete cut out all of a sudden ? Or like starvation struggles and then stops if the latter carry on as I suggested if it a complete cut out .
Check the wire on the injection pump its whats called the stop Solinoid will stop the fuel to the engine like when you turn the ignition off, could be a loose connection , take a look ;)

Hi, sorry I've haven't been online to report back, had really bad case of flu. I've now ordered the part from Paddocks and sorted out a garage to do the work when it finally arrives, although as I'm in France the first 2 garages looked horrified and said they didn't do English cars, life is never easy, lol. Thanks for all your help and advice, it is really appreciated.

Hi, my gasket has finally arrived from Paddocks and my car is booked in for this Wednesday. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the time it may take to the garage to replace it, assuming it's straightforward and they don't find any other problems, lol.

Oh, is that all? I thought it would be longer, might as well wait whilst they do it in that case. Thanks gemsdad.

Nooooo, looks a mucky job, it's bad enough cleaning off the oil that's leaking out, I think I'll use the girly card on this one :D;)

HOW MANY MILES HAS THIS ENGINE DONE JULES? oops caps on soz.
